The Creative Entrepreneur
Think Different, Do Different: The Secret Weapon of Creative Entrepreneurship
What sets successful creative entrepreneurs apart? It’s their knack for thinking differently and doing things in unique ways. Creative entrepreneurship thrives on the importance of creativity in architecture. But in the end, it’s really ALL about hospitality.
No matter what you’re doing or working on, it really boils down to being hospitable. I like to think that what we do here is more than just serving a meal or providing a service. We aim to make our guests, clients, and friends feel welcome. We want to tell them a story they will enjoy.
Architecture and Creativity: Successful Entrepreneurs
What’s the best way to describe a creative entrepreneur? It has been said that “a good entrepreneur is someone who can see an opportunity and make it happen.” This J.D. Rockefeller quote sums up what an entrepreneur should be. But how does one become an entrepreneur in the first place?
The only real way to become an entrepreneur is on the job training (which can be more expensive than going to college sometimes). Creative entrepreneurs can take risks with their products or ideas. They work hard, show strong determination, and think outside the box.
They understand that success takes time and perseverance which means they’ll never give up when things get tough.
Entrepreneur in the Hospitality Industry
One of the many great things about the hospitality industry is it is FULL of entrepreneurs.
Every hotel or restaurant has its own unique characteristics which are generally determined by the locale. Knowing that locale is key to their success, and the entrepreneurial mindset is a must.
Imagine the perfect hotel. Not just a great place to stay, but one that will make you feel like royalty with every step as if walking in your own showroom! An architect alone cannot create such magnificence and luxury. They need help from other professionals on their team.
Architects usually have good taste in design, so they naturally like to create great hotels. However, architecture involves more than just design. It also includes civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and more.
But even these skills are not enough without expertise outside of construction. Landscaping experts can add beauty to any space with plants and trees, for example.
We also tend to be more Avant-garde when it comes to the way we problem solve. We are trained to see and solve the problems in less than ordinary ways.
Similarly, hoteliers must handle many tasks. They need to prepare and serve food and drinks, manage accommodations, and understand legal aspects. They also need skills in IT, social media, marketing, accounting, and finance. Above all, they must have strong determination.
Architectural Entrepreneurship: Creative Ideas and Solutions to Problems
I’ve been an architect for eight years now and have seen firsthand the ups and downs of being a creative entrepreneur. From my experience, three things are crucial to success in any endeavor.
First, know how to fail and learn from it. Second, have good mentors who will tell you when you’re wrong. Third, understand that managing your life outside of work is as important as getting the job done at work.
As someone who had many jobs before becoming an architect, I can say that some skills translate well across professions. My experience in both architecture and construction supports this. For example, creativity may be more important than problem-solving alone.
Hospitality Entrepreneurship: Original Ideas and Creative Process
For the hospitality industry to flourish, two aspects are crucial. Firstly, storytelling is essential. It brings the locale to life, allowing designers and hotel owners to share their stories. These personalized experiences create memorable moments for guests.
What I love about this profession is its abundance of opportunities and variety.
